Hi y'all.  The name's Shadow.  I recently read that I have a better chance of gettin' hit by lightning than winnin' the lottery, but I have won the lottery twice!! About two months ago, I won the shelter dog lottery! Hero dog savers named Susie’s Senior Dogs found out about me and posted my picture on the world wide web.  My foster mama says I was overnight famous! The next day I won the rescue dog lottery and was deemed an Underdog!  I'll just say this...I'm now scared to death of lightning.  But wouldn't you be if you knew the statistics and had already won two lotteries?!  Anywho, the next couple of weeks were a whirlwind but after moving from Texas to Colorado I got myself a place to kick up my paws and I'm seein' a doc about my ticker-worms.  My doc says I'm in great health, even for my age, so we gave those worms their first eviction notice a month ago.  Doc says they usually need a couple reminders to git outta dodge but then I'll be all set to find me a forever family.

I'm glad to have some time to get to know myself now that I have the freedom to do so.  You see, I spent my life on a chain hiding in the dark (hence why I call myself Shadow).  My meals were sporadic and I didn't even know there were beds just for dogs...oh, and have y'all heard about this thing called a couch?!! Maybe lightenin' did strike cause I'm in heaven!  Well, here in heaven I've been workin' hard to be everything I know I can be. I'm pretty sure I'm an introvert but my foster mama says not to be too quick to label since I've changed so much.  I started out too scared to move and had to be coaxed into eating, drinking, and eliminatin'. But ya know what, turns out some humans ain't all that bad and I'm startin' to learn I have choices and a voice. I'm no longer scared to enjoy my freedom, I obviously don't have a chain anymore so why act like it? I've learned to run around with my foster brothers and I even tried out this thing called a play bow that they taught me. It's pretty cool and everyone gets real excited when I do it. Oh, and I learned about time...meal time to be more precise.  And I'm pretty much superior when it comes to reminding my foster parents about it.  All ya gotta do is start whoopin' and hollerin' and if it's close enough to meal time, they'll fill the bowl.  Like I said, I'm an introvert so while I love myself a good belly rub, hugs are still a little too much.  Unless you're a toddler. I have a soft spot for the littles so they get a little extra leeway when it comes to my personal bubble and she's teaching me that (appropriate) hugging is okay. My foster brother is trying to teach me about hunting and keeps getting annoyed that I let the neighbor rabbits and cats hang out around me. But I just have too much love for this second chance to not include everyone in it.  Do you want to be in it too?
